Who this is

This site, assafkaner.com, is operated by Assaf Kaner, a freelance web developer based in Ashdod, Israel. This policy explains what happens to your data when you visit.

The short version

This is a fully static site. There is no backend, no database, no user accounts, and no analytics or advertising trackers. Almost nothing about you is collected or stored anywhere the operator controls.

The contact form

The contact form does not submit to any server. Filling it in and pressing send opens WhatsApp with your message pre-filled — you choose whether to actually send it. Once sent, that message is processed by WhatsApp/Meta under their own privacy policy, and the operator only ever receives it as an ordinary WhatsApp message.

The Writing section

The Writing section loads recent posts by making a request, directly from your browser, to a third-party service called api.rss2json.com, which converts the operator's public Medium RSS feed into a format the page can display. That third party will see your IP address and browser user agent as part of handling the request. It is not controlled by the operator, and its own privacy practices apply to that request.

Fonts

Fonts are self-hosted and bundled with the site via next/font. Your browser never makes a runtime request to Google Fonts or any other font provider.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Hostinger. Like virtually any web host, Hostinger's servers keep standard access logs — IP address, timestamp, requested page, user agent — for normal operation, performance, and security. The operator does not use these logs for tracking or profiling and does not layer any analytics on top of them.

Accessibility preferences

If you adjust accessibility settings (contrast, grayscale, text size, reduced motion), that choice is saved in your browser's localStorage under the key a11y-prefs. It stays on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and is not a tracking cookie — it simply lets the site remember your preference on your next visit.

Links to other sites

Links to Medium, LinkedIn, GitHub, WhatsApp, and client sites take you off assafkaner.com entirely. Each of those is governed by its own privacy policy, which the operator has no control over.

Your rights

You can ask about, request correction of, or request deletion of any data connected to you by messaging the operator on WhatsApp at +972 50-437-6818. In practice, because nothing is stored server-side, there is typically nothing held that would need to be erased — the exception is whatever WhatsApp itself retains as a messaging provider, which falls under its own policy.

This policy may be updated as the site changes. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
